The Grafitti vandal’s resourcebook

Those were the days when I was having difficulty in the simple act of staying alive. Arguably no one was choking me or holding a choloroform soaked handkerchief to my nose, nor was there any lack of vitamin B12 or iron or iodine in my food. I was a victim of huge expectations from my own life, influenced by how the influencers show off about the bigness of their small lives. However, the real reason was also my boss and my family and my landlord who were all the time pretending to own my life and had me pretty much … Continue reading The Grafitti vandal’s resourcebook

The death of Sushant Singh Rajput? Or his Life?

I had to vent what I felt. I have been trying to understand what was great in Sushant’s acting and I could not find too much. Maybe I’m not a good critique and if you have better knowledge, please enlighten me. I feel Sushant Singh Rajput was not a great actor of the likes of Nawaz or Manoj Bajpai. However, he was more than a decent actor. And for some reason, unlike most other star-based movies, the story is consistently more important than this hero himself in his movies. His acting was a very rational one and in many places, … Continue reading The death of Sushant Singh Rajput? Or his Life?

I love you deer

(Intro: I love you deer. Written on Sunday, 14Feb2016. This date matters. Submission to TataLitLive my story contest 2016.)There was an old deer in the jungle who was always afraid of being the last one in his herd when the leopards came. He was counting the last days of his wholly lonely life. Now, at the face of death, his heart was sinking. “I can do nothing. I’ll wait for whatever happens.” he thought. One day, they saw a hunter approaching and the herd ran in frenzy. The hunter was however, a wildlife researcher, a young woman in twenties. She … Continue reading I love you deer

For the one who gave me strength when she arrived

POEM TITLE: ARRIVAL You are my strength, my smile and my fortune. I’ve seen you after traversing thousands of sand dunes. Your presence fills my dry deserted heart with ice. I would have voyaged happily if I knew you’re the prize After Long lonely roads in the dreariness of darkness You’re the painkiller to my full body soreness The natural cure to my anxiety and depression, The bustle at daybreak after the night’s inaction You fill my monochrome life with color, You’re the chilly freshness of a glacier, The poetry of a lover, Serendipity of a traveler You’re the one … Continue reading For the one who gave me strength when she arrived

Real world is a fiction?

Would you believe it if I say that this whole world around you, everything that is real, is basically your imagination? Basically fiction? And concepts. And statements that play around with those concepts. And talk less about truth but more about the beauty of these statement. The insolvable questions that conflicting philosophical theories propose and confuse you. At the same time, the confusion exposes you to the depth of imaginative possibilities. Why not then, simply appreciate these statements at their face value for their beauty and forget about what’s reality or truth, for, as Neil deGrasse Tyson rightly puts it, … Continue reading Real world is a fiction?

2018 Review and 2019 Goals

2018 Review: Whoa!! I had a bunch of hot and awesome experiences this year. I traveled to Guwahati, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Goa, and hiked in the outskirts of Mumbai along with oscillating between Ludhiana, Delhi and Mumbai. I gave a couple of stage performances, for singing and improv this year. That was a major highlight. I was part of the journal publishing team at my institute and we published the student magazine crescendo. I recorded at least one podcast this year! Books that I really read this year included: Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, Wild by Cheryl Strayed. Metamorphosis by Kafka, Half … Continue reading 2018 Review and 2019 Goals

The great submissions of stories by people

I’ll start with this story: It’s a tribute to mothers. It contains author’s memories of his mother when he used to travel home. How it felt like and all. The author says “I miss you ma” in the end, so it’s not clear if she’s still around or not. But, there’s the truth that she’ll pass one day irrespective. And what will be left will be these memories, flavors and aromas. And I could strongly relate with the way he captures how mothers annoy and love at the same time, and present the famous north Indian dish “Rajma” in particular. … Continue reading The great submissions of stories by people

Writing my way to a better life

I wish to write. But who should I write for and what should I write? Well, one thing is for sure. The kids are the future and the youth is the present. And being a part of the present myself, there are a lot of questions that come to me on a daily basis, including, and most importantly, what is something worth doing? Am I the first to ask questions about the meaning, and point of life, or in fact, to ask the God above, “Can you suggest me something meaningful and productive to do?” Well, of the people who … Continue reading Writing my way to a better life
